Wonderful whitewater. Some class III in s-bends upstream of the kayaker put-in. John hits the kayaker final-likelihood eddy above Bidwell (in his 16 ft raft). Bidwell feels larger than it looked from shore. White Kilometer and White Mile are great fun roller coaster rides. Read and run by means of Eagle’s Claw. A black bear in the narrow lava canyon under sends John and the raft on collision course with the other canyon wall.
