For that occasion it did not matter that the home was unfinished as everything came about outdoors to accomodate the assembled pack…household, pals, waifs and strays all perching on chairs introduced out for the aged or on logs, stones and constructing materials for the remainder: the elderly ladies refusing (for type’s sake) to imagine that the wine was not fruit juice and glugging away happily; the kids taking part in with the canine; the beer circulating, plates of food on the trestle table and the television brought out so as to add its contribution while waiting for midnight and the nationwide anthem.
