King Street Blues In 1909, in Pee Wee’s Saloon on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, the musical genre that we call the blues was written right down to be taken to the lots.

Beale Avenue, the house of the blues, was shaken with rioting, looting, violence and killing during the 1968 sanitation staff strike.
